We began as a Portuguese non-profit organization aimed at promoting writing and creativity, which continues to be an important pillar of our culture and is currently under threat in an era dominated by misinformation and uncritical thinking. We are living in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and, as in the others, the technological boom has resulted in the delegation of tasks to machines that were previously the reserve of human competence. This is nothing new, constituting the common denominator compared to the other industrial revolutions. There has been a myriad of opinions related to a factor of distrust in AI, looking uneasily at the emergence of people, more or less qualified, who are highly capable of doing tasks like writing, through processes and tools provided by AI programs. It seems that, suddenly, we are all great writers and all very capable. Despite the risks of AI being undeniable and having already been identified by the scientific community, namely dependence, the standardization of thought («all of us thinking in the same way»), to the detriment of critical thinking and creativity itself, we must recognize that AI is also a form of mass dissemination of knowledge, in addition to freeing humans from multiple tasks, allowing space for the development of other mental faculties, such as creativity in itself. Indeed, we should approach the «AI issue» with an unavoidable paradoxical logic: the risks that harm creativity previously mentioned, and the creation of time (at humanity's disposal) through automation and the speed provided by AI services and programs. It is up to us, as humans and as a society, to determine how we want AI to collaborate with us and benefit us. We must be responsible with its benefits, and aware of its harms, under the risk of atrophying and stagnating. Thefore, the importance of creating institutions that preserve the skills of intelligence (as critical thinking and creativity) arises, unless we let ourselves be dominated by an era marked by cognitive repetition and uncritical thinking. It is with this awareness that Creative Minds was born, with the goal of nurturing people's natural creativity.
